FIND Your Gift, USE Your Gift

Using Your Gift

I recently came across this quote –

“The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away.” ~ Joy J. Golliver

This is a powerful quote and it is one of my favorites. What is your gift? I am a firm believer that everyone has a special gift or talent. Your gift is often what you are passionate about and what can provide the “zest” in your life. If you don’t know your gift, ask the people closest to you in your life. These people (friends and family) know you the best and might be able to tell you what your passion is. So, find your gift…that is half the battle.

The second part of the quote states, “the purpose of life is to give it away”. Much of our life is spent in the workplace. So, wouldn’t it be a waste if we weren’t using our “gift” in the environment where we spend the most time? True fulfillment and contentment can result from using this gift for the betterment of others.

From a business perspective, how can you “give away” or use your gift in a professional environment? Here’s my example – I believe my gift is helping others. I have been in sales/marketing for 13 years, so I am not in a typical field of work you may first think of that helps others. When I think of helping others, I first think of the fields of social work, education, nursing, etc. In my situation, I am using my gift of helping others in a sales capacity. In my role, I help other organizations strengthen their brand positioning to stand out from their competitors. I truly want to help their organizations be more successful. If I can help an organization strengthen their brand through specific programs I can provide at The Marketing Formula, I am directly impacting the future of that company. I am helping them. I am giving my gift away.

After my team helps strengthen the client’s brand positioning in the marketplace, their brand is now vibrant, fresh, focused, re-defined, strengthened, and alive with a new sense of purpose. A strengthened brand can truly help an organization become more successful. All because I gave my gift away at work. Feel free to share, what is your gift and how do you use it?

Do something this week if you haven’t already. FIND your gift. Then, USE your gift.
